Today, though I have some strict deadlines and I am way way far behind it, yet I indulged myself and switched on TV for 10 minutes. On one of the channels there was a question. The question was "can you create a device/machine which would always point to one location without the use of Magnets or compass". For eg., devise a machine that would always point to Delhi as you move it without the use of magnets or earth's magnetic field.
I thought about it and could not come up with the solution :(.
As a hint to the solution, this device was invented around 2500 years back and it is used in every vehicle (not for exactly for the same purpose though). If you come do come up with the solution you will start appreciating what value does compass/magnets and earth's magnetic field add to deployability of the solution.
Yup, I am not going to give the solution in this blog. Go figure it out yourself :-). In case you are not able to then drop me a mail :).
Eventually, after I got enlightened by the solution, I started thinking that maybe our education corrupts our free thinking and the power of innovation of one's mind. Maybe educations binds one's mind to things what one has been trained to think. For a free innovative mind one has to think outside his/her context and what one has been taught to think.
